PCRS battle through the elements to finish Wales Rally GB

24Philip Case Rallysport travelled from Spain to Wales for the final round of the 2015 World Rally Championship. Coming off the back of a strong weekend in Catalunya, the team would field just one car in the notoriously difficult Wales Rally GB with Pauric Duffy and Kevin Glynn taking charge of the P1 Rally Rentals Ford Fiesta R5.

The pair, who have enjoyed another strong season in 2015, stepping up to the new R5 specification Fiesta at the start of the year, were keen to complete one of their highlight events on a high. Initially getting off to a good start, consistently setting times inside the top 30 overall, a trip into the Wales overgrowth put pay to their efforts, and left the PCRS crew with some extensive repair work.

14Working late into the night in some severely adverse weather conditions, that even caused organisers to close off public access to the service park for a time, the team successfully repaired the Silverstrand Developments backed Fiesta in time to resume their participation in the event under the Super Rally rules.

Picking up where they left off, Pauric and Kevin quickly put any memories of their excursion out of their mind and returned to setting a string of top 30 stage times, eventually completing the rally in 52nd position.

Philip Case – Team Principal, PCRS:
“We were under no illusions that this was going to be a tough event for the lads, as it is for every crew. However Pauric and Kevin put in a great drive, and were unlucky to go off during the event. I want to say a special word of thanks to the team for getting their car repaired over night for the Super Rally. The weather conditions were not good at all to be working in, but they soldiered on and allowed the crew to return to the stages to finish the event.”

PCRS take on the world

9 Fresh from finishing as class five runners up in the Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, Philip Case Rallysport and P1 Rally Rentals made the trip to Spain for the RACC Rally Catalunya.

Representing the team for the penultimate round of the 2015 World Rally Championship was Pauric Duffy with Kevin Glynn on the notes in the P1 Rally Rentals and Silverstrand Developments Ford Fiesta R5. Joining the Class five tarmac championship runners up was Enda McCormack and Liam Moynihan in their McCormack Contracting Inc. Skoda Fabia S2000.

16_webThe mixed surface event would prove to be a tough test for both crews across the 22 stages of competition. However at the final control it was Enda McCormack leading home the PCRS charge in 53rd position followed closely by Pauric Duffy in 55th. Both crews delighted to have completed the grueling event.

Philip Case – Team Principal, PCRS:
“It’s no small task to take on a round of the World Rally Championship, particularly one that covers two very different stage surfaces. Both Enda and Pauric have put in a very solid performance this weekend, and finishing the event is a superb achievement for both of them. Pauric and the P1 Rally Rentals team will now focus their attentions on their next and final event of the year, Wales Rally GB, which will be a real test of man and machine to finish a big year for the lads.”

PCRS dominate Group N Tarmac Championship

15-3CRS10579Philip Case Rallysport have been crowned 2015 Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Group N Rally Champions thanks to a superb performance all season by Aaron MacHale and Paul McGee.

The Dublin based crew in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX have been one of the main pace setters of the Group N category for the majority of the season, clocking up three class wins before clinching the title in a nail-biting finale at the Cork 20.

Four-wheel drive debutant Pauric Duffy clinched the runner-up spot in Class five in the Irish Tarmac Championship at the final round in Cork in what has been a superb year for the relative newcomer to stage rallying. Starting an exciting 15-3CRS11076journey in 2014 behind the wheel of a Citroen C2R2, Duffy made the brave step up to a brand new Ford Fiesta R5 for the 2015 season and impressed throughout. The P1 Rally Rentals supported crew of Duffy and navigator Kevin Glynn will move up to the world stage towards the end of the season with planned outings on the final two rounds of the World Rally Championship in Spain and Great Britain.

Philip Case – Team Principal, PCRS:
“Congratulations to Aaron and Paul on winning the Group N championship. They have put in a great performance all the season and the guys working on their car have also done a great job to help them achieve this title. Pauric and Kevin have come on leaps and bounds during the season. It’s been a big step up from the C2R2 but they have taken it in their stride and I look forward to seeing them improve even further next year.”

Lead by R5 convert Daniel McKenna in the P1 Rally Rentals Ford Fiesta R5 with Kevin Glynn on the notes, runner-up spot was secured by Paul Rowley and Jeff Case with Enda McCormack and Colin Fitzgerald in their Skoda Fabia S2000 completing a PCRS top three.

McKenna’s performance was particularly impressive, with the former Billy Coleman Award Winner setting two outright fastest stage times in his R5 debut.

Philip Case – Team Principal, PCRS:
“We’ve had a great weekend here in Galway. Daniel has been a very welcome addition to the team, and his performance in the P1 Rally Rentals Fiesta R5 has been very impressive. Paul and Enda both had good run’s in their Skoda’s and it’s a very proud achievement for us as a team to lock out class five which is quickly becoming the front running class in Irish rallying.”
